IDEX has formed a strategic relationship with a global payment network scheme based in the United States. The two organizations will work together to encourage the adoption of biometric payment cards, and will reach out to third-party card issuers as part of that process.
This is the third major payment network that has partnered with IDEX Biometrics. China Union Pay has certified FEITIAN and GoldPac cards that feature IDEX’s fingerprint technology, while an unnamed Tier 1 manufacturer in Europe has been certified under a second payment scheme.
“We are pleased that yet another key member of the payment card ecosystem, this time a global payment network and card issuer, has made a strong commitment to our vision and mission,” said IDEX CEO Vince Graziani. “This is another example of our fingerprint sensors and biometric solutions being the preferred option for companies that recognize biometric payment cards are the future.”
IDEX has previously noted that COVID-19 has dramatically increased the demand for biometric cards. The company believes that the market will continue to grow heading into 2021, and has already received orders for fingerprint sensors from multiple card manufacturers. The TrustedBio sensor has also been integrated into Zwipe’s Pay ONE platform.
