Dongwoon Anatech Places New Orders For IDEX Biometrics Sensors

October 16, 2020

“IDEX says that DWA has ordered both current and next-gen versions of its TrustedBio solution as part of an ‘early ramp up’ of DWA’s low-cost smart ID cards.”

Dongwoon Anatech Places New Orders For IDEX Biometrics Sensors

IDEX Biometrics has received new volume orders of its TrustedBio fingerprint sensors from Dongwoon Anatech (DWA), the company has announced.

The news comes after IDEX’s initial announcement of a partnership with DWA last November. At the time, IDEX explained that DWA would use its SmartFinger IDX 3200 dual-interface fingerprint sensor in a new biometric ID card.

Now, IDEX says that DWA has ordered both current and next-gen versions of its TrustedBio solution as part of an “early ramp up” of DWA’s low-cost smart ID cards.

“We are delighted to see DWA’s commitment to both our current and future generation of fingerprint sensors,” commented IDEX Biometrics CEO Vince Graziani. “This order adds to the momentum and growing opportunity within the smart ID market. We, and DWA, believe strongly that fingerprint biometrics will be integral to the future of digital identity.”

The orders represent a parallel business line for IDEX alongside its efforts in the emerging area of biometric payment cards. In that market, IDEX has made progress over the past several weeks. In early September the company announced that it had received its first volume order for TrustedBio sensors from a global card maker intending to use them in a forthcoming biometric payment card, and later that month IDEX signed an MoU concerning biometric payment cards with Ubivelox.

Last week, IDEX announced that it had invited Thomas M. Quindlen, an executive with considerable experience in the payment cards space, to join its board of directors.
