With international travel soaring and the hospitality industry scrambling to accommodate new customer expectations in the wake of the pandemic, Innovatrics has adapted its Digital Onboarding Toolkit to offer a turnkey solution for simple, socially-distanced hotel check-in.
Innovatrics’ DOT solution revolves around selfie-based identity verification, using facial recognition to match end users to their official identity documents. As the company illustrated in a demo app launched last year, this means that an end user needs only to take a selfie and snap a couple of photos of their driver’s license, passport, or other ID in order to confirm that they are who they claim to be.
Now, the DOT solution can be integrated into any hotel’s mobile app, bringing the same functionality to the check-in process. A given guest can take a selfie and pictures of their passport or ID upon arrival, and as soon as that process is complete the app can send out a confirmation email with a passcode for room access. There is no need to speak with a receptionist, minimizing face-to-face contact as travelers remain wary about the threat of COVID along their travels.
“Contactless hotel check-in made possible by Innovatrics technology not only provides a hassle-free experience for guests but can make hotel operations more efficient,” the company explained in its announcement. “Online check-in can lead to the optimization of staff time and resources to ensure that your guests are satisfied.”
It’s the latest sign of the company’s commitment to innovation with respect to its Digital Onboarding Toolkit. Innovatrics kicked off the year with a DOT update that enhanced its document capture capabilities, and in May the company introduced a ‘Smile liveness’ feature that enables administrators to require a smile from the end user during the selfie enrolment process, thereby helping to ensure that the user really is present during the transaction.
