Jumio Targets Gaming Industry Through New Partnership with Playtech

April 22, 2020

Jumio Targets Gaming Industry Through New Partnership with Playtech

Jumio is hoping to extend its reach in the gaming industry through a new partnership Playtech. Playtech is a leading provider of gaming technology that works with companies throughout the gaming world, from live casinos to virtual sports and poker.

Jumio will specifically be joining Playtech’s Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) programme, which gives Playtech customers access to a range of technology services and solutions. Thanks to the new partnership, that now includes Jumio’s identity and document verification software, which will be available to gaming operators that need a secure way to onboard remote players.

To that end, Jumio ID Verification confirms that an official ID document is legitimate, and that it has not been tampered with in any way. It then uses facial recognition to make sure that the person depicted on the ID is indeed the person sitting down at the virtual table. Meanwhile, Jumio Document Verification can be used to scan utility bills and other documents, allowing operators to verify a player’s address without the need to make a visit to a physical location.

Together, the two solutions will speed up the remote onboarding process while ensuring compliance with international gaming regulations and Know-Your-Customer mandates. The Jumio system is compatible with official government IDs from more than 200 countries and territories around the world.

“The flexibility and coverage of the offering means Jumio is able to support many of our different customers in their compliance journeys across jurisdictions,” said Playtech Product Strategy VP Anthony Evans.

“Our ability to balance fraud detection, compliance mandates, and the user experience will prove invaluable to Playtech’s ecosystem of operators looking for ways to adapt in this rapidly evolving landscape,” added Jumio EMEA Sales VP Simon Winchester.

The new deal should bolster Jumio’s reputation in the gaming world. The company is already providing onboarding services for several online gaming operators, including Novibet and Casumo, and was named the Fraud & Compliance Solution of the Year at the 2019 SBC Awards.
