LoginID has released several new SDKs in an effort to raise the appeal of its solution. The company is trying to make it easier for developers to add biometric authentication to their apps and websites, insofar as the SDKs will provide developers with more options and give them the ability to use the language of their choice when integrating LoginID into their own platforms.
Those coding in Python can find the new SDKs on PYPI, while Javascript developers can find them at NPM and Java developers can seek them out at LoginID. The company’s authentication solution boasts FIDO2 and FIDO UAF certification, and was built to encourage more organizations to embrace the FIDO Alliance’s passwordless authentication protocols.
In that regard, LoginID noted that biometric authentication has a wide variety of different use cases, though it is expected to be particularly impactful in the financial sector. PYMNTS has reported that biometric authentication could reduce fraud by as much as 90 percent, while Juniper believes that $3 trillion worth of payments will be cleared with biometrics by 2025. Those payments will be made by an estimated 1.4 billion individual biometric payment users.
“LoginID is focused on taking a very developer focused API approach in our products and these three releases reflect our commitment to improving speed in integration with our authentication solutions,” said LoginID CTO Pasan Hapuarachchi. “FIDO by way of its industry support has become a de facto standard for strong authentication, with wide acceptance in the technology community.”
LoginID closed a $6 million round of seed funding in March, and Visa has since made a separate investment in the company. Visa opted not to disclose the size of that investment. The company recently released a biometric authentication plugin for WordPress. It is also acting as one of the sponsors for the FIDO Alliance’s new Global Developer Challenge.
