“Shipping 5 million sensors has provided NEXT with invaluable experience from a quality, logistics and operations standpoint.” – Ritu Favre, CEO, NEXT Biometrics
NEXT Biometrics has hit an important milestone: The company has announced that it has now shipped over 5 million fingerprint sensors to date.
In a statement announcing the achievement, NEXT Biometrics CEO Ritu Favre suggested that it reflects her firm’s experience and expertise. “Shipping 5 million sensors has provided NEXT with invaluable experience from a quality, logistics and operations standpoint,” she said, adding that the milestone also offers NEXT Biometrics clients “a high level of confidence to work with a supplier that has a proven track record of success delivering high-quality, advanced sensor technology and components globally.”
Notably, the company’s statement emphasized NEXT Biometrics’ shipments in “its core notebook market,” phrasing that contrasts somewhat with Favre’s previous assertion earlier this year that biometric smart cards represent the company’s “most important market.” That one, however, is still emerging, whereas commercial notebook devices are already embracing fingerprint sensor technology. And NEXT Biometrics’ milestone announcement did note that “the company is also quickly ramping activity to expedite the adoption of its unique large-area sensors in other priority markets.” Indeed, this announcement comes just a couple of weeks after the news that NEXT Biometrics’ partner Tactilis had started shipping its biometric smart card solution.
