Nexxt Solutions is rolling out a new line of Smart Home products in collaboration with Microsoft and Tuya. The portfolio currently includes smart plugs, power strips, bulbs, and motion sensors, but will expand to a full line of more than 40 connected products by mid-2020.
All of the products will be compatible with the Nexxt Solutions Home App, which allows users to remotely manage all of their Nexxt products from a smartphone or a tablet. The app is hosted on Microsoft Azure and is built with Tuya tech, and will enable users to turn devices on and off (or set schedules to do the same) from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection.
The app also has speech recognition capabilities to facilitate voice activation through Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
“By combining the operation of several home devices into one app, Nexxt is creating a powerful, simple way for people to control their homes and get the most out of them,” said Tuya Co-founder and COO Alex Yang.
“This strategic collaboration represents our ongoing commitment to bring highly secure, cloud connected, smart home devices to our customers,” added Microsoft Devices General Manager Mark Linton.
The Nexxt smart line will be available from a wide variety of retailers in 40 countries around the world. Future Nexxt products will include smart vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, and pet feeders.
The line is yet more evidence of the growing appeal of connected smart home solutions. Microsoft, meanwhile, has been working towards a password-free Azure platform, while Tuya independently released a smart doorbell with facial recognition capabilities earlier this year.
