This year’s Mobile World Congress is coming up soon, and the GSMA has announced its nominees for the Global Mobile Awards to be presented throughout the convention.
The award winners will be announced online through the Mobile World Live webcast, with a couple of live awards ceremonies scheduled, too. Winners in the categories of “Best Mobile Apps”, “Best Mobile Handsets”, and “The Connected Life Awards” will be recognized at the GSMA Innovation City and in Hall 4’s Showcase Stage; and the awards for “Best Mobile Services”, “Best Mobile Technology”, “Government Excellence Award”, and “Social & Economic Development” will be presented in a special ceremony in Hall 4’s Auditorium 5 on February 28th. There will be additional ceremonies for the categories of “Women4Tech Industry Leadership”, “Outstanding Achievement”, and “GSMA’s Outstanding Contribution to the Mobile Industry”.
Nominees include everything from Nuance’s voice-controlled AI assistant platform for smart cars (in the category of “Best Mobile Innovation for Automotive”) to Aircel’s Mobile Connect biometric mobile registration system (in “The Mobile Connect Award for Authentication & Identity”), to Ericsson and AT&T’s Connected Water system for smart cities (“Best Use of Mobile for Smart Cities”).
The awards will be hosted by Suzy Perry and Ortis Deley, former presenters with the Gadget Show on the UK’s Channel 5. Mobile World Congress will take place in Barcelona from February 27th to March 2nd.
