“At MWC, NTT DOCOMO says it will showcase a 5G robot designed to mimic human calligraphy using a 5G connection, alongside other exhibits…”
NTT DOCOMO is looking to make a big splash at this year’s Mobile World Congress with planned showcases that will revolve around its 5G and IoT offerings.
With respect to the former, the Japan-based telecom has been very active in recent months exploring 5G technologies. In November, it worked with Ericsson, Intel, and Toyota in a trial that saw 4K video transmitted to a moving car; and more recently it became one of numerous major network operators to agree to test a Qualcomm Technologies 5G modem for smartphones. At MWC, NTT DOCOMO says it will showcase a 5G robot designed to mimic human calligraphy using a 5G connection, alongside other exhibits including a “Real-time 5G Radio Wave Visualizer,” according to a statement from the company.
NTT DOCOMO also indicated that this will mark the first time it will be exhibiting at MWC alongside other partners from the broader NTT Group, with whom it’s going to showcase numerous technologies including “AI and IoT-based speech recognition technology” and, to highlight the industrial applications of the IoT, a “fishery ICT buoy”. The group will also present examples of their “B2B2X business model,” according to the statement.
Mobile World Congress 2018 will take place in Barcelona from February 26th to March 1st.
