The American SESAMES Awards were announced earlier this week during the CARTES America Secure Connexions Event in Las Vegas. In the category of Emerging Payments, Oberthur Technologies was proclaimed the most innovative.
Oberthur’s Omni-channel Wallet is the specific solution being recognized here. It is a payment platform for online and proximity purchasing, incorporating virtual coupon capabilities and loyalty functions. This last aspect was a focus of the company’s during this year’s Mobile World Conference in Barcelona.
The Omni-channel Wallet is exactly what its name advertises. Payment can occur through any number of channels, regardless of technology. QR codes, NFC and BLE being a few modes of payment, Oberthur is being awarded here for a rubust mCommerce solution that is also very flexible.
“CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS AMERICA 2014 is all about recognizing and sharing game-changing thinking and technologies shaping secure payment, access and identification markets,” said Isabelle Alfano, exhibition director of this conference. “[The] winners, and all our entrants, exemplify this commitment to advancing our industry.”
The other two announced winners were SkimProt Ltd. for innovation in card manufacturing and Zwipe AS took home an award in identification for its biometric physical access card.
This is the second SESAMES Award that Oberthur has won in less than a year’s time. Last fall, the company won a SESAMES Award at the Paris event for it’s “My voice is my password” solution, powered by AGNITiO’s voice biometric engine.
