Okta has moved forward with a major redesign of its Okta End User Dashboard. The updated Dashboard is 50 percent faster than its predecessor, and supplements those performance gains with a new side-navigation panel that makes the platform more scalable.
The End User Dashboard provides end users with single sign-on capabilities for a wide range of enterprise and personal applications, allowing them to gain access to those apps without needing to remember a separate password for each one. It also gathers those applications in a centralized location to make them easier to find. The platform is compatible with any web browser (and any device), and offers additional plug-in support for those using Edge, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Chrome.
Other improvements include the Dashboard’s new app cards and the more user-friendly search feature. The app cards have been enlarged to make room for more information about each app, while the search function is more forgiving, and can now find an app even if the user does not type the exact name into the search bar. Finally, the Dashboard will let people create customized Sections (instead of Tabs) to make their screen more organized.
The new End User Dashboard is generally available as of April. It arrives shortly after Okta updated its Okta Integration Network to add new workflows and risk management features, and several months after it released a new Devices SDK to enable passwordless authentication in customer-facing applications.
