Precise Biometrics technology is helping to power the fingerprint scanning functionality of a new Sharp smartphone.
The Sharp Z3 uses a fingerprint sensor provided by Fingerprint Cards, a longtime hardware partner of Precise Biometrics. Meanwhile, the algorithm software in play is Precise BioMatch Mobile, Precise Biometrics’ flagship solution for mobile devices.
Sharp is a returning customer for both Precise Biometrics and FPC, having integrated their technologies into new devices released last year. The Sharp Z3 is aimed primarily at the Taiwanese market, at least for the time being.
News of the integration arrives the same week as Precise Biometrics’ Q1 report, in which the company reported a net loss but anticipated a return to profitability later this year thanks to further mobile integrations and new efforts in the emerging biometric payment card market.
