Onfido has attained another new client in the growing car sharing market: RVShare.com has opted for its identity verification solution.
Based in the US, RVShare operates a network of 60,000 trailer and motorhome owners offering to rent out their vehicles. And as with any other contemporary vehicle-sharing platform, the company faces a strong need to ensure that end users are who they say they are.
That’s where Onfido comes in. Operating over mobile or desktop, the company’s solution combines facial recognition with document reading technology to scan a picture of an end user’s official ID and confirm that it matches the individual’s live face. It’s selfie-driven, in other words, meaning that a lot of end users will find the process easy and more than a little familiar.
Commenting on the partnership in a statement, RVShare Business Development Director Taher Hassonjee lauded Onfido’s solution for its “superior level of trust, security and smooth user experience”, adding, “This is the next step as we continue with our commitment to deliver a safe and trustworthy environment for owners and renters.”
News of the development arrives on the heels of Onfido’s announcement of expansion plans in France, where it already has multiple big clients including the Europcar car sharing service; all of which suggests the company is gaining traction on both sides of the Atlantic.
