September 14, 2016

“It all suggests that companies offering innovative POS technologies see promise in mPayment platforms like Samsung Pay, and recognize a need to keep pace with the emergence of such technologies.”

Toast Restaurant POS, a startup offering tablet-based POS devices for the restaurant industry, has announced that it now supports Samsung Pay. That means in restaurants using Toast’s technology, customers can quickly and easily pay for their orders via smartphone thanks to Samsung’s mobile payment platform.Samsung Pay Catching On With Tableside Tablets

It isn’t the first such POS system to embrace Samsung Pay: Last month, Ziosk, another restaurant tablet POS platform, also announced support for the service. It all suggests that companies offering innovative POS technologies see promise in mPayment platforms like Samsung Pay, and recognize a need to keep pace with the emergence of such technologies.

As Toast CEO Chris Comparato suggested in a statement announcing the support, it illustrates how “Toast is committed to empowering restaurants with innovative technology,” adding, “This partnership is our step forward to enhance the guest experience even more.”

Given the premium Toast places on innovative technology, the Samsung Pay support could could further impress its clients with its biometric support, which has recently expanded to verify transactions through not only fingerprint scanning, but also iris scanning via the Samsung Galaxy Note7. That could let customers settle their bills almost just by looking at them.
