“…users can remotely unlock the door through the mobile app to let friends, family, or other authorized users gain entry.”
Samsung SDS has won a major industry award for its latest biometric door lock solution: The SHP-DR900 took the Gold Prize in the category of Smart Home Innovation at the 17th Beijing International Consumer Electronics Expo.
The door lock features an integrated fingerprint sensor and touchpad, and is Korea’s first smart door lock featuring integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, Samsung SDS says. Its Wi-Fi capability allows the door lock to send authorized users push notifications whenever someone attempts entry, and they can also check log history at any time. What’s more, users can remotely unlock the door through the mobile app to let friends, family, or other authorized users gain entry.
It’s the latest sign of Samsung SDS’s expanding interest in biometric technology, which it has also embraced for its NexSign mobile authentication platform. The integration of biometric sensors into door locks is a broader trend, however, with various other solutions on the market including systems based on facial recognition and eye scanning.
Samsung SDS announced the launch of the SHP-DR900 simultaneously in Korea and overseas.
