“The technology is designed to refine its accuracy with use, allowing users to enjoy a faster and more intuitive authentication process as they use their smartphone.”
Samsung’s J5 2017 and Galaxy A7 smartphones will feature Egis Technology fingerprint sensors running Suprema‘s BioSign software.
In a statement announcing the integration, Suprema highlighted the AI technology of the BioSign 2 platform launched at this year’s Mobile World Congress. The technology is designed to refine its accuracy with use, allowing users to enjoy a faster and more intuitive authentication process as they use their smartphone.
The technology is also tailored for middle and lower-end smartphones like Samsung’s J5 and A7. While Suprema says it can attain an authentication speed of 50ms on higher-end devices, it maintains a speed of 100ms on lower-end processors and retains a maximum FAR of only 0.0005% in all cases.
Commenting on the integrations, Suprema CEO Brian Song suggested that they reflect the fact that fingerprint scanners “are now an essential feature in smartphones,” adding later, “we expect to see BioSign 2.0 becoming widely available in many other smartphone models.”
