One of Kazakhstan’s leading travel agencies has partnered Smart Engines to speed up its booking process. To that end, HT.KZ has installed Smart Engines’ GreenOCR optical character recognition software at brick-and-mortar locations throughout the country.
HT.KZ will use the GreenOCR tech to scan customer passports when they want to book a tour. The solution will then extract all of the necessary personal and travel information from that document, and use it to auto-fill the relevant fields in the HT.KZ tour booking system. The document scan takes less than a second, making it much faster than the manual entry process that HT.KZ employees have relied on in the past.
The Smart Engines system will run on HT.KZ’s own private servers, and will not send any images or information to third parties for processing. As a result, HT.KZ will retain full control of its customer data, which helps to ensure security and user privacy. The HT.KZ IT team also acted independently to carry out its own software integration.
The GreenOCR system has been installed in HT.KZ offices in Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Shymkent, and Petropavlovsk. Moving forward, the company plans to integrate Smart Engines technology into its mobile app to allow customers to book their own tours remotely. As it stands, more than 60 HT.KZ managers currently have access to the tour booking system at physical branch locations.
“The booking system plays an important role in a modern travel agency and the opportunities that it offers to the company’s employees and customers,” said HT.KZ founder Maxim Banin.
“Smart Engines technologies provide OCR of high accuracy and open up new opportunities for optimizing our business processes.”
Smart Engines has updated its platform several times in the past few months, first to recognize the European Union’s new biometric IDs, and then to allow people to extract payment information from credit cards. The Royal Caribbean Group is also using Smart Engines tech to scan the travel documents of passengers boarding its cruises.
