“…the company asserts that the SFM6000 Series offers “the world’s fastest matching speed”, performing up to 5,000 matches per second, and the solution has a capacity of 25,000 biometric templates.”
Suprema has announced its latest embedded fingerprint scanning module solution.
Called the SFM6000 Series, it’s equipped with a 1GHz CPU and supports open source operating platforms like Raspberry Pi and Arduino. It’s also designed to be rugged, with IP65 water resistance, and the ability to function in temperatures ranging from -15°C to +60°C.
It’s also fast. In a statement announcing the solution, Suprema asserts that it’s loaded with the “latest Suprema algorithm” – presumably the recently-announced BioSign 2.0, which Suprema had previously claimed was twice as fast as the nearest competitor. In any case, the company asserts that the SFM6000 Series offers “the world’s fastest matching speed”, performing up to 5,000 matches per second, and the solution has a capacity of 25,000 biometric templates.
Suprema is highlighting the solution’s Internet of Things applications, pointing to potential integrations into vending machines and cars in addition to the more traditional access control and time and attendance applications for such technology. As such, the solution could help fingerprint biometrics to become even more widespread as more and more uses emerge for such technology.
