Tascent has teamed up with OtterBox to bring a multimodal biometric authentication solution to a range of mobile devices.
Called Tascent MX, the solution’s foundation is OtterBox’s uniVERSE Case System, a smartphone case solution supporting attachable peripherals. What Tascent has brought to the table, of course, is multimodal biometric capabilities: The solution features Tascent’s dual-eye iris recognition and Integrated Biometrics’ FAP 45 certified Sherlock fingerprint sensor, with support for facial recognition to boot. And it can be used with a number of smartphone models including Samsung’s Galaxy S devices and other Android smartphones.
In a statement announcing the new solution, Tascent co-CEO Joey Pritikin framed Tascent MX as “an ideal fit for a wide range of emerging commercial applications, while also delivering a true next-generation capability to established end users in enterprise and government applications. ”
The solution arrives soon after the announcement of Tascent’s InSight One solution last month, an embeddable module for OEMs to incorporate facial and iris recognition into their hardware. Tascent is showcasing its new Tascent MX solution this week at the ID4Africa event in Nigeria, and will also show it off at Connect:ID in Washington next week.
