Indonesian telecommunications leader Telkomsel has partnered with Mastercard to introduce “Proteksi Privasi,” a new digital identity protection service. The solution monitors and safeguards customers’ personal data across digital platforms, including the dark web. The partnership extends Telkomsel’s digital identity initiatives, following their previous collaboration with IPification for phone verification services.
The service monitors 14 types of critical personal information, including identification documents, passport details, contact information, social media accounts, and financial data. When potential data breaches or misuse are detected, subscribers receive real-time alerts and guidance for risk mitigation. The comprehensive monitoring approach comes at a crucial time, as Indonesia prepares for the launch of its national INA Digital identity system in late 2024.
Proteksi Privasi includes insurance coverage of up to IDR 20 million to protect against identity theft and financial losses resulting from data misuse. The service is available to all Telkomsel customers, regardless of whether they hold Mastercard products, with Halo+ Supreme MAX Postpaid customers receiving the protection as a complimentary benefit.
Customers can choose between two subscription tiers: a Rp25,000 monthly plan that includes 1 GB of internet quota, or a basic Rp12,000 monthly plan. Subscription and activation are managed through the MyTelkomsel app, with final activation completed via an SMS link directing users to the TIARA-Mastercard account activation portal.
“Through strategic collaboration with Mastercard, we hope this service can provide a sense of peace of mind for customers, so they can be safer and more comfortable enjoying the convenience of digital life without worrying about the risk of identity theft,” said Lesley Simpson, VP Digital Lifestyle at Telkomsel.
“This collaboration is a joint commitment of both parties to build digital trust and create a safer digital future to empower every individual,” said Wibawa Prasetyawan, VP Account Management at Mastercard Indonesia. The partnership is part of Mastercard’s broader digital identity initiatives, including their collaboration with Microsoft to develop comprehensive digital identity services.
