Trulioo has launched its GlobalGateway platform in the Philippines.
The platform is designed to facilitate mobile identity verification through its use of both document reading and facial recognition. Like similar solutions such as Jumio’s Netverify platform, GlobalGateway applies this technology through a standard mobile camera, allowing for an inexpensive, convenient, and reliable means of customer verification.
In announcing the platform’s availability in the Philippines, Trulioo emphasized its application in ensuring compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer regulations, particularly in the context of a country that is one of the highest receivers of remittances in the world. “Last year, the Philippines recorded inflows of approximately US$33 billion, an all-time high, and in January cash remittances from Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) reached US$2.4 billion – a 9.7 percent increase on the previous year,” the company stated.
The company’s expansion into The Philippines market comes amid a global rise in excitement over remote onboarding solutions based on mobile biometrics, with the financial services sector having so far demonstrated particularly strong interest in such solutions.
