Sensory Inc.’s TrulySecure facial and voice recognition system can now support infrared and 3D image data from Time-of-Flight cameras. The new functionality means that TrulySecure can authenticate users with facial recognition in a range of lighting conditions including complete darkness.Latest TrulySecure Upgrade Reflects Post-Face ID Mobile Biometrics

It’s a move that could be read as one of many responses to Apple’s Face ID system across the mobile biometrics industry. The iPhone’s X’s new biometric authentication system is also based on infrared scanning, allowing for high degrees of both convenience and security for end users.

In its announcement of the biometric upgrade, Sensory’s CEO, Todd Mozer, framed it primarily as a means of improving the user experience. Mozer asserted that though Sensory had already “mitigated nearly all potential security threats of 2D RGB cameras through advanced anti-spoofing algorithms and by fusing face and voice biometrics into one robust solution,” the company believes “that utilizing IR and 3D image data will propel TrulySecure’s security and user experience further ahead of the competition.”

Sensory says it has already teamed up with Time-of-Flight sensor makers to develop devices that can put TrulySecure’s IR and 3D capabilities into action, and that its upgraded platform will be available in the latter half of this year.
