The United Arab Emirates has launched Tamm, a comprehensive digital platform that serves as a one-stop service hub for Abu Dhabi government services, including Emirates ID card issuance and renewal. The initiative builds upon the UAE’s broader digital transformation strategy, which has previously included the integration of biometric national ID databases into various government services.
Through Tamm, UAE citizens can now complete their Emirates ID card processes with a simplified workflow that requires no additional procedural steps. The platform integrates with broader government initiatives aimed at modernizing identity and immigration services, supporting the UAE’s commitment to implementing advanced digital identity solutions across its public services sector.
In related developments, UAE authorities have intensified their enforcement of residency regulations. Recent inspection campaigns, numbering over 270, have resulted in the identification and arrest of more than 6,000 visa violators. Approximately 93 percent of these cases are currently undergoing deportation proceedings.
“Inspection campaigns will continue, so we advise the public not to take such violations or violators lightly,” said Major-General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). The ICP has been actively expanding its digital services, recently introducing an online visa service for friends and relatives as part of its modernization efforts.
The Entry and Residence of Foreigners Law establishes specific penalties for both violators and those who employ or shelter them. “Legal measures and fines are imposed on violators as well as those who shelter or employ them,” said Brigadier General Saeed Salem Al Shamsi, Acting Director General of Identity and Foreigners Affairs at ICP. “There will be zero tolerance for violators and those who facilitate their illegal stay.”
For legal residency visa applications, the process includes mandatory medical fitness examinations conducted at public health centers and residency screening facilities. These examinations test for communicable and infectious diseases. Applicants must register on the digital services platform and provide required documentation, including a passport-type photo, original passport, and current UAE ID card or residence permit renewal application form.
The Public Health Services Department oversees these medical examinations through various centers across the UAE emirates. Results are communicated to applicants via email and SMS, integrating digital communication into the application process. The digital-first approach supports the UAE’s ongoing efforts to streamline government services through technological innovation.
