“…with the remarkable success of its IdentityX deployment in the mobile app of American bank USAA, Daon has gone on to work with heavyweights like Mastercard and has become one of the most notable success stories of the mobile biometrics revolution.”
Daon‘s mobile biometrics technology has found its way into a big new deployment in the Philippines. Union Bank of the Philippines is using the technology in a new banking app developed with digital commerce specialist EON.
Called New EON, the app takes advantage of Daon’s IdentityX platform to authenticate users with fingerprint and facial recognition, with plans to add voice recognition and perhaps other biometric modalities in a later upgrade. Together with other mechanisms like device cryptography, the biometric authentication is meant to ensure that the banking app is highly secure.
In a statement announcing the deployment, EON Head Advocate Paolo Baltao said his company opted to work with Daon on the app “after extensive research in this space because they demonstrated a deep knowledge of biometrics.” Indeed, with the remarkable success of its IdentityX deployment in the mobile app of American bank USAA, Daon has gone on to work with heavyweights like Mastercard and has become one of the most notable success stories of the mobile biometrics revolution.
EON says Union Bank of the Philippines’ New EON app is the first banking app in the country to use selfie-based authentication.
