Veriff Enters Booming Selfie Authentication Market

April 9, 2021

Veriff has launched a new Face Match solution that uses facial recognition to compare someone’s face to the image on a photo ID. The solution is designed primarily for re-verification rather than onboarding, which is to say that it is geared toward employees and existing customers rather than new users.

Veriff Enters Booming Selfie Authentication Market

In that regard, Face Match is an authentication service that matches a new photo of a user to a document that the organization already has on file. Customers can use the service to recover their accounts, or employees can use it when working remotely to gain secure access to various corporate materials. Face Match can also be used to authorize high-risk transactions.

Veriff is hoping that Face Match will help the company capture a portion of an identity verification market that is expected to hit $12.8 billion by 2024. The platform has video features to enable liveness detection, and can confirm someone’s identity in about one second.

“Face Match makes sure that the facial biometrics of the person match the historically captured government-issued ID to authenticate their identity,” said Veriff Co-Founder and CPO Janer Gorohhov. “Consumers have become so accustomed to a fast, seamless experience online in this digital-first world, and we’re now able to deliver this innovative offering to our customers.”

Face Match arrives a little over a year after Veriff launched its Veriff Station digital identity platform. A more recent report places the identity verification market at $15.8 billion in 2025.
