A new partnership could dramatically extend Verifone’s presence in India. The company has teamed up with Ezetap, a payment processing solutions provider based in the country.
The aim of the partnership is to facilitate a greater range of payment methods in India, with the companies seeking to combine their technological solutions. As Ezetap CEO Abhijit Bose explained in a statement announcing the collaboration, “The combination of Ezetap’s software capabilities and processing flexibility with Verifone’s range of payment solutions and services, will provide merchants with a one-stop, next-generation solution that can deliver differentiated experiences to their customers using customized software, real-time data, and value-added services.”
Elaborating further, Verifone’s General Manager of South Asia, Vinayak Prasad, said, “With Ezetap’s powerful gateway to all major banks in India, Verifone will be able accept a variety of payment types that will allow consumers to shop anywhere with their debit or credit card, mobile wallet, and even with the local Bharat QR scanner and mandated Aadhar-based biometric authentication.” Aadhaar is perhaps one of the most important of those considerations, with the national biometric ID program increasingly being used for authentication in everyday applications.
The partnership’s announcement coincides with the start of this year’s Money20/20 Asia exhibition, which runs until March 15th in Singapore. Ezetap and Verifone are both in attendance.
