Zwipe has raised its international profile after forming four new partnerships in Europe and the Asia Pacific region in the past few months. All four partnerships involve major card manufacturers, and all four partners will be taking advantage of the Zwipe Pay ONE platform for biometric cards.
The company’s new partners collectively ship more than 1 billion cards every single year, of which more than 150 million are specifically payment cards. According to Zwipe, the card manufacturers are planning to begin biometric card pilots with Pay ONE technology before the end of 2021, and will move forward with commercial launches if those trials are successful.
“We continue to see strong traction from card manufacturers all over the world to engage with biometric payment cards based on our Zwipe Pay ONE platform,” said Zwipe CEO André Løvestam. “This is well matched by interest from issuers who are keen to deliver the next generation contactless payments experience to consumers, combining the convenience and safety of truly contact-free with the security of strong biometric authentication.”
Zwipe is hoping that the new partnerships will drive the mass adoption of biometric payment cards. The Pay ONE platform comes with a fingerprint sensor from IDEX Biometrics, and is currently being used in trials with Inkript and the OP Financial Group. Zwipe has also appointed three new executives in anticipation of a booming biometric card market in 2021.
