Zwipe and Smart Technology Services (STS), a France-based specialist in equipment for smart card manufacturing, are expanding their partnership to cover the production of dual interface biometric payment cards.
The companies first teamed up in the autumn of 2018, when Zwipe announced that they would work together to develop a manufacturing system for biometric payment cards. The companies have already worked together to produce solutions aimed at helping SCMs (Smart Card Manufacturers) to easily pivot to smart card production, and will now look to further support the industrialization of the Zwipe Pay ONE platform with their support for dual interface cards.
“Zwipe has been one of the leaders in the development of biometric payment platforms while we have developed manufacturing processes to enable SCMs to successfully reach a true volume offer capability for such cards,” explained STS CEO Thierry Buisson in a statement announcing the partnership expansion. “We have worked very closely together over the last year to fine-tune our complementary offering in order to support smart card manufacturers as they adopt and begin to roll out cards based on the Zwipe Pay ONE platform.”
News of this development arrives on the heels of Zwipe’s announcement that it had partnered with Wisecard, a Shenzhen-based EMV card personalization specialist. Zwipe has made numerous partnership announcements over the past several months pertaining to its efforts to commercialize biometric payment card technologies as they make their way toward large-scale launches.
Commenting on the company’s work with STS, Zwipe CEO André Løvestam suggested that the partnership expansion has already yielded positive results.
“Our expanded partnership with STS has mitigated project risks and reduced the capital expenditure needed to enable the production of biometric payment cards,” he said. “This will further strengthen our respective positions in the market and accelerate the adoption of biometric payment cards.”
