Buzz around wearables, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), and the Internet of Things continues to build as The Smart Technology Show takes shape. Taking place in Santa Clara, California, on October 4th and 5th, the event is organized by WTS USA.
About 2,000 visitors are expected, and 150 speakers will discuss topics ranging from data analytics in sports to the rise of IoT robots to wearables in sports. The variety in topics will also be reflected in the fields and backgrounds of the speakers, among whom will be Al Guido, the President of the San Francisco 49ers—discussing “what it takes to run a successful connected stadium,” according to WTS’s keynote speakers listings—and Arlette Hart, the FBI’s CSO. Speakers with more traditional tech backgrounds will also present, coming from companies like FitBit, Google, and Facebook.
While wearables and AR/VR are already relatively high-profile technological concepts, the IoT remains a nebulous concept, albeit one that is widely acknowledged as a powerful emerging technological field. Together with other recent IoT conferences like the RE.WORK Summit, The Smart Technology Show should help to foster development in the IoT, and to get companies and business and government leaders ready for the significant changes that are anticipated.
