FPC Tech Helps Fulfill Motorola Biometrics Commitment

May 18, 2016

“A little less than a year after the [Motorola] brand was revived by consumer electronics giant Lenovo, it announced that fingerprint sensors would come standard on all of its new smartphones in 2016…”

A major new Motorola smartphone sports Fingerprint Cards biometric technology. The latter has announced that its FPC1035 fingerprint sensor has been integrated into the Moto G4 Plus.

FPC Tech Helps Fulfill Motorola Biometrics Commitment

It’s a validation of the strength of FPC’s brand as a sensor supplier to mobile OEMs, given the importance that Motorola has attached to its smartphones: A little less than a year after the brand was revived by consumer electronics giant Lenovo, it announced that fingerprint sensors would come standard on all of its new smartphones in 2016, perhaps seeing the technology as representative of a baseline of technological sophistication.

In a statement announcing the Moto G4 Plus integration, FPC CEO Jörgen Lantto called Lenovo “a leading global smartphone manufacturer” and asserted that “the Moto brand has always stood for innovation and high quality.”

As for the sensor’s algorithm software, it’s a good bet that it comes from Precise Biometrics. The company’s Precise BioMatch Mobile technology has been used in many FPC integrations, and in a statement issued today, Precise Biometrics asserted that its software “has through cooperation with Fingerprint Cards (FPC) been integrated in a new smartphone from a leading vendor under its American brand.”
