‘iPhone 5e’ Expected to Launch in March

January 11, 2016

'iPhone 5e' Expected to Launch in MarchNew reports and rumors are painting a clearer picture of the next iPhone device slated for launch.

It isn’t going to be the iPhone 7. That device is expected this fall; but the next iPhone is thought to be an upgraded iPhone 5s boasting of incremental improvements, following the iterative approach Apple has displayed over the last few years.

The new device is reportedly in production now and is expected to launch this March. Rumors suggests that it will be called the iPhone 5e, with the “e” indicating that it is an ‘enhanced’ version of the iPhone 5s. AppleInsider reports that it will likely feature 1GB of RAM, a subtly curved 4″ screen, voice-over-LTE functionality, and Apple Pay support based on Touch ID authentication.

Contrary to previous predictions from the usually reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, reports are now suggesting that the iPhone 5e will feature an A8 processor rather than an A9, and that it will be available in only a few colors, rather than the rainbow approach Apple took with its iPhone 5c. In any case, it’s likely to be a market success, as all new iPhones generally are.
