Advent International and Bpifrance have completed their acquisition of Safran Identity & Security, heralding the arrival of OT-Morpho.
As a majority shareholder, Advent International is the parent company of Oberthur Technologies, the embedded secure element specialist. Having now acquired Safran’s high-profile identity division, the company has engineered the industry’s biggest merger of recent years, adopting Safran’s former moniker, “Morpho”, into the new brand.
OT CEO Didier Lamouche has been appointed President of OT-Morpho’s Executive Board, and former Airbus executive Marwan Lahoud has been named Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Anne Bouverot, Safran Identity & Security’s former CEO, is now Advent International’s Senior Advisor.
In a statement announcing the acquisition’s completion, the companies asserted that Safran Identity & Security and OT have a combined revenue of €2.8 billion, creating in OT-Morpho a France-based powerhouse in digital identity security that “will be uniquely positioned to accelerate the convergence between governmental and commercial markets.”
