“Perhaps most importantly for the automotive sector, the solution meets the ISO TS 16949 automotive production and servicing standards.”
Safran Identity & Security is highlighting the smart car applications of its MorphoFlex solution.
In a new post on its website, the company cites Gartner Research’s prediction that by 2020, there will be over 250 million connected cars on the road, and notes that those cars are mostly going to have SIM cards soldered into their bodies. That’s why they’re going to need remotely programmable eSIMs like Safran’s MorphoFlex solution, allowing them to change owners and service providers without the need to replace hardware.
Safran notes that MorphoFlex is compliant with the newest GSMA 3.1 specifications, and that its data center in Craponne, France, and its factory in Flintbek, Germany, are both compliant with the GSMA Security Accreditation Scheme. Perhaps most importantly for the automotive sector, the solution meets the ISO TS 16949 automotive production and servicing standards.
With the European Automotive Telecom Alliance recently having laid out its plan to get new smart car technologies road-ready this year, there is clearly growing anticipation and excitement about such technologies in the automotive industry. With its accreditations, MorphoFlex could play an important role in helping these technologies to get some traction.
