“The two companies will work together on contactless payment solutions based on both card and wearable form factors.”
Zwipe has found another new partner to help expand the reach of its biometric technology in the payments space.
In this case, it’s Publicenter, described by Zwipe as Italy’s largest domestic smart card maker. The company is certified by both Mastercard and Visa, and boasts of more than forty years of experience in payment card production.
The two companies will work together on contactless payment solutions based on both card and wearable form factors. The solutions will be aimed at financial services clients across Europe.
Commenting on the partnership, Publicenter CEO Sandro Mucelli suggested that successful experiences with biometric payment cards featuring Zwipe technology proved to be convincing. “We have seen firsthand the potential of biometric payment cards and successful market trials in Italy, run on the Zwipe platform,” he said. “With many of our customers asking for this product, we are confident that the partnership with Zwipe will be the most cost effective and time efficient route for us to offer this solution at scale.”
News of the partnership comes after other notable developments with Zwipe partners over the past month. In early June, Zwipe announced that Hong Kong-based Toppan Forms Card Technologies was ready to begin small-scale manufacturing of biometric payment cards. Shortly after that, Zwipe announced a partnership with Beijing’s Watchdata Technologies; and it renewed its partnership with Brazilian smart card maker Thomas Greg & Sons at the end of the month.
“We are excited to work with Publicenter who have strong engagements with banks and retailers across Europe, including in our own home region of the Nordics,” explained Zwipe CEO André Løvestam. “Working together, we will identify new commercial opportunities for both companies and implement a successful roll-out of Zwipe Pay ONE,” he added, referring to his firm’s biometric payment card platform.
