A digital onboarding specialist is partnering with IPification to strengthen security on its platform. Blinking is specifically looking to eliminate some of the vulnerabilities associated with SMS one-time passcodes (OTP), and is therefore replacing SMS OTP authentication with IPification’s simple phone verification service.
Security experts have repeatedly warned that SMS OTPs are one of the weaker forms of multi-factor authentication, since the OTPs can easily be shared or intercepted by cybercriminals. IPification’s service, on the other hand, utilizes IP addresses to confirm a user’s mobile number and SIM data, and cross-references that device information with mobile records to make sure that the number belongs to the person completing the onboarding process.
End users, meanwhile, only need to make a single click to complete the IPification check. As a result, the service delivers a much smoother experience for an organization’s customers.
The Blinking solution similarly performs Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering checks, and supports multi-factor authentication. The company is trying to deliver a comprehensive and user-friendly security offering that allows clients to cover all of their bases with a single product. IPification should improve the package, and boost acquisition and retention rates for businesses that offer online services.
“By introducing an additional layer of identity verification, Blinking will provide added value to its clients,” said Blinking Co-founder and COO Milos Milovanovic. “IPification enables us to offer our clients the ability to be more confident in their end users due to mobile phone ownership and plans used. This is critical for lowering risk and building trust between businesses and their customers.”
IPification recently launched a new IM Auth service that can authenticate users through the popular WhatsApp, Viber, and Telegram instant messaging services. The company provided phone verification solutions for the U-Pay digital wallet and a mobile operator in Cyprus in the first few months of 2022.
