Bridge Alliance, a consortium of 34 major MNOs in the APAC and EMEA regions representing 800 million customers, will adopt Gemalto’s On-Demand Connectivity solution.
The move helps to pave the way for the emergence of the Internet of Things across both regions. On-Demand Connectivity is designed to enable the easy administration of embedded SIMs adhering to the GSMA’s Embedded SIM and Embedded SIM M2M specifications. That means across all Bridge Alliance networks, MNOs will be able to easily manage the registration and de-registration of connected devices, even if they move from one country to another.
In a statement announcing the move, Bridge Alliance CEO Eileen Tan explained that the organization’s aim is to offer customers “world-class, seamless connectivity services for both industrial and consumer IoT devices,” adding that Gemalto’s solution allows the organization “to automate the provision of connectivity services over-the-air” to meet customer needs.
Gemalto has been busy establishing itself as a key solutions provider in IoT connectivity, with AT&T having also recently contracted its On-Demand Connectivity solution in the US.
