Bridge Alliance, a leading mobile industry association representing major mobile network operators across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, has established a strategic partnership with eSIM connectivity provider Telna to enhance mobile roaming services and meet growing demand for travel eSIM solutions. The partnership comes as eSIM technology sees rapid adoption across the telecommunications industry, particularly for international roaming applications.
The collaboration will use Telna’s roaming eSIM enablement platform to provide Bridge Alliance member companies with advanced eSIM distribution capabilities. The implementation will allow mobile operators to integrate eSIM technology and optimize their connectivity services for modern roaming challenges. The initiative follows similar industry developments, such as IDEMIA’s eUICC solutions for enterprise IoT deployments, which have helped establish eSIM as a crucial technology for modern connectivity.
Telna’s platform features eSIM-ready digital solutions that embed activation capabilities into various touchpoints, making international data plans accessible through web stores and mobile applications. The service offers white-label customization options, enabling operators to maintain their branding across digital eSIM storefronts and apps, similar to successful implementations like IDEMIA’s Smart Connect platform in the Netherlands.
The platform employs an API-first approach to ensure seamless integration and scalability. Mobile network operators can connect their systems directly with the platform’s APIs to exchange data, plan information, and provisioning requests. The standardized approach to integration helps streamline deployment across multiple operators and markets.
“We’re delighted to have Telna join our Bridge Alliance Technology Partnership Programme. We look forward to deepening our partnership in enabling the roaming eSIM distribution ecosystem and to meet emerging needs in new roaming industry trends,” said Ken Wee, Senior Vice-President for Partnership and New Business at Bridge Alliance.
“The flexibility and simplicity of eSIM technology appeal to customers. It will help MNOs to monetise the so-called ‘silent roamers’, subscribers that tend to avoid using mobile services while they’re abroad, preferring to rely on Wi-Fi instead,” said Telna CEO Gregory Gundelfinger.
The partnership aims to streamline service provisioning by eliminating physical SIM cards while enhancing retail offerings for mobile network operators in an evolving telecommunications landscape. The digital transformation of roaming services represents a significant step forward in making international connectivity more accessible and user-friendly for travelers across the Asia-Pacific region.
