“The certification is a fitting achievement for Daon, which was one of the earliest pioneers of mobile biometrics through its IdentityX authentication for mobile devices, and is one of the FIDO Alliance’s board members.”
Daon has established itself as one of the first companies to attain FIDO2 certification for the on-server component of its biometric authentication platform. The biometric authentication expert also attained UAF 1.1 protocol on server certification, and certification for its Android client SDK.
An important step forward in authentication standards, the FIDO2 specification notably supports biometric authentication through major web browsers, as well as authentication through USB and NFC security keys. The certification is a fitting achievement for Daon, which was one of the earliest pioneers of mobile biometrics through its IdentityX authentication for mobile devices, and is one of the FIDO Alliance’s board members.
“We view the rapid embrace of this standard as a reaffirmation of our commitment to delivering the very best in safety, simplicity, privacy, and choice to our global customers and their users,” commented Daon CEO Tom Grissen in a statement announcing the certifications.
FIDO Alliance Executive Director Brett McDowell added some praise for the FIDO board members, asserting, “With its latest FIDO certifications, Daon is showing versatility in its offering and ability to meet requirements for a wide variety of its customers looking to move beyond passwords with simpler, stronger FIDO Authentication.”
“We look forward to our board member Daon’s continued leadership and strong commitment to helping the rapid deployment of FIDO Authentication in the global marketplace,” he said.
The news further underscores Daon’s prominence in the field of biometric authentication after the company was named a Leader in Javelin’s 2018 Mobile Biometrics Platform Awards toward the end of last year.
