IDEX Biometrics has teamed up with Feitian on biometric smart card manufacturing. The companies have signed a new agreement that will see IDEX supply smart card makers with Feitian’s pre-lam inlay solution, which IDEX described in a statement as “a major structural component within the biometric smart card”.
“Feitian is one of China’s largest smart card integrators and in recent years has established itself as a leading manufacturer of high-volume pre-lam inlays,” the company asserted, adding later that Feitian’s pre-lam inlay is “designed specifically for use with the IDEX dual-interface sensor”.

For its part, IDEX also recently established a partnership with China-based Silone Cardtech concerning the creation of biometric payment cards, a move that itself followed on the heels of IDEX’s announcement that one of its clients had achieved mass production standards for biometric smart cards.
Feitian, meanwhile, has also established itself as a player in the biometric cards market, having launched an “all-in-one” biometric card solution in collaboration with Fingerprint Cards earlier this year.
Commenting on the new partnership between IDEX and Feitian, IDEX Biometrics CEO Stan Swearingen emphasized its implications for getting IDEX’s technology to market. “This unique combination between IDEX and Feitian gives us a reliable and cost-effective end-market solution,” he said. “Through Feitian’s growing customer base, we have a clear route to market whilst Feitian’s pre-lam solution, containing IDEX’s sensor, offers other card manufacturers a simple and reliable means of making a biometric smart card in high volume for their customers.”
