The FIDO Alliance is finally getting ready to kick off its inaugural Authenticate event, albeit in a different venue and several months later than originally intended. The conference was scheduled to take place in Seattle in June when it was first announced, but was ultimately delayed and then forced to transition to a virtual format due to COVID-19.
The revamped Authenticate will run from November 9-20, with a virtual expo hall and nearly two full weeks of programming that will address the subject of authentication from a variety of angles. The presentations will have interactive features like live polling, while sponsor booths will have 360-degree content with live demos and conversations with company executives.
FIDO is hoping to recreate the feel of an in-person event, though it has made several concessions to the new virtual reality. Presentations will run live in the mornings and afternoons on Pacific Standard Time, but will be archived and made available on-demand once they are complete. Networking lounges and other interactive features will also be running at all hours of the day, so guests can drop in and participate in a way that fits their schedule.
The Alliance is offering free registration to anyone interested in its virtual event. In the meantime, Executive Director & CMO Andrew Shikiar previewed Authenticate in a recent appearance on the ID Talk podcast.
