Fujitsu Adds ImageWare Biometric Solutions to Enterprise Portfolio

June 22, 2017

“In a statement announcing the move, Fujitsu EMEIA biometrics division head Thomas Bengs said the ImageWare solutions enable Fujitsu to offer its customers ‘an enhanced portfolio of biometric security solutions that reduce the barriers to deploying highly secure biometric authentication.'”

Fujitsu has become a reseller of ImageWare security products and services, extending its reach into mobile authentication and authentication-as-a-service.

The partnership also serves to extend the range of biometrics supported by Fujitsu. The company’s solutions have hitherto primarily revolved around palm vein scanning, and, to a lesser extent, fingerprint recognition. Now, ImageWare’s GoVerifyID adds facial and voice recognition to its portfolio.

Fujitsu is targeting its new offerings primarily at the enterprise market, with the new biometric authentication capabilities available through its Fujitsu Cloud Service K5. In a statement announcing the move, Fujitsu EMEIA biometrics division head Thomas Bengs said the ImageWare solutions enable Fujitsu to offer its customers “an enhanced portfolio of biometric security solutions that reduce the barriers to deploying highly secure biometric authentication.”

The ImageWare integration immediately follows Fujitsu’s announcement that it has also become a value-added reseller of Nok Nok Lab’s multimodal biometric authentication platform, suggesting that the company has adopted a business strategy based on the co-opting of adjacent biometric security solutions from third party providers.
