Gemalto has announced a new cloud-based security platform for the enterprise.
SafeNet Data Protection On Demand is envisioned as a comprehensive data protection solution that can be implemented easily with IT infrastructure that’s already in place. In addition to offering encryption, the platform also offers key management tools to let administrators manage encryption keys throughout their lifecycle and across other cloud-based services such as Salesforce; and its Hardware Security Module On Demand feature enables secure authentication and digital signing services.
Perhaps most importantly, Gemalto says there is “no hardware or software to buy, configure or manage” for this solution, according to a statement announcing SafeNet Data Protection On Demand – it’s all handled through Gemalto’s cloud services, an approach that could prove appealing to managers and administrators short on time or resources. And Gemalto says the platform is “designed to work with many of the most widely utilized IT products and technology companies such as Amazon Web Services, Dell EMC, Google, IBM, Microsoft, NetApp, Huawei, Oracle and Salesforce.”
The solution arrives after a first half corporate update in which the company detailed profitable yet “disappointing” results, with CEO Philippe Vallée pointing to the company’s efforts in the enterprise sector as one of the keys to regaining stability for the year. That being the case, the SafeNet solution could prove to be an important component of those efforts.
