Goodix and Windows Hello Power Biometrics on New Dell Laptop

January 11, 2018

“The biometric authentication process is built upon Windows Hello, the biometric security platform built into Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system.”

A new Dell laptop features biometric security care of Goodix and Windows Hello.

Goodix and Windows Hello Power Biometrics on New Dell LaptopThe device made its debut at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The 2018 edition of the XPS 13 features a compact design with a 13″ screen bordered by ultra-thin bezels – possibly taking a cue from one of the big trends in mobile device design. Also echoing mobile design is the device’s use of a fingerprint sensor for user authentication, allowing users to login with the tap of a button.

The biometric authentication process is built upon Windows Hello, the biometric security platform built into Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system. Dell has proven to be a pretty enthusiastic supporter of Windows Hello biometric technology with previous devices like last summer’s Inspiron 7000 convertible tablet/laptop, and of course the 2017 edition of its XPS 13 laptop.

Goodix, meanwhile, provided the fingerprint sensor for last year’s Dell Inspiron 15 5000 laptop, and the company has seen its biometric technology used in conjunction with Windows Hello in last year’s Matebook X notebook from Huawei.
