Mitek Provides Document Verification Tech for Remote Notary Platform

July 21, 2020

KYS-Tech will be using Mitek’s Mobile Verify solution to confirm the identities of people using its own remote online notary platform. The company notes that while getting a notarization has traditionally been an in-person process, many states have passed emergency legislation to enable remote notarizations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those rules will soon become permanent thanks to the Standardization and Secure Notarization Act that is currently making its way through Congress. The bill will allow every notary in the U.S. to perform remote online notarizations, making the process more convenient now that digital services are rapidly becoming the norm in a number of different industries.

“Digital transformation is now a matter of thriving, not just surviving,” said Mitek Vice President Sanjay Gupta. “Companies that formerly transacted primarily in person have been forced to embrace a digital-first approach to business operations.”

With Mitek Mobile Verify, KYS-Tech will be able to ensure that the people performing notarizations are actually authorized to do so. Users will first be asked to take a photo of an official government ID (such as a driver’s license), and then answer a few followup questions to verify their identity and their notary qualifications. After that, they are free to notarize any documents they receive, while customers can rest assured knowing that only authorized individuals will have access to any sensitive documents that they need to share.

“Mitek is a global leader in mobile capture and digital identity verification known for its strict adherence to current compliance and regulatory requirements and certification,” said KYS-Tech Founder and CEO Terry Van Bibber. “This professionalism, expertise and support allows us to provide unparalleled service to any business needing notarial services.”

Mobile Verify has previously been deployed to verify the identities of Flexi-Fi customers applying for a line of credit. Companies like HyreCar and BioMetric Signature ID have also leveraged Mitek’s selfie authentication solution for mobile onboarding.
