NXP Unveils New Wi-Fi 6 Portfolio

April 8, 2020

NXP Unveils New Wi-Fi 6 Portfolio

NXP has launched a new Wi-Fi 6 portfolio that will allow equipment manufacturers to support the latest Wi-Fi standards with a wider range of products. The portfolio will deliver a slew of performance improvements, including faster download and upload speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections.

In the past, only a select handful of premium products have been able to enjoy those benefits. The power-efficient Wi-Fi 6 portfolio will make them more accessible, allowing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to deploy the technology in more affordable consumer devices.

“OEMs need Wi-Fi 6 options that match the performance and cost needs of their different market segments,” said NXP Security and Connectivity SVP Rafael Sotomayor. “With NXP’s latest connectivity solutions, we are making it easier for our customers to add Wi-Fi 6 to smart homes, connected cars, and industrial machinery.”

The Wi-Fi 6 portfolio will offer greater range and battery life. It includes a series of 2×2, 4×4, and 8×8 Wi-Fi solutions with Bluetooth 5 capabilities.

The news is in keeping with NXP’s ongoing efforts to support IoT development. The company recently released two new microcontrollers for IoT devices, and launched a new UWB chipset for smart devices. Equipment manufacturers can utilize NXP’s EdgeVerse platform to accelerate their development of those products.
