Toshiba Enhances AR Smartglasses with Software Integration

August 8, 2018

Toshiba Enhances AR Smartglasses with Software IntegrationA new partnership with Augmented Reality specialist Atheer has brought new functionality to Toshiba’s dynaEdge AR smartglasses. The enterprise-focused headgear now supports Atheer’s AiR Enterprise software.

The support means that Toshiba’s smartglasses can now support voice command functionality, bar code scanning, remote guidance with visual annotation, and the creation of drag-and-drop checklists. And the solution is cloud-based, allowing for easy deployment in the enterprise.

In a statement announcing the AiR Enterprise support, the VP of marketing and engineering for Toshiba America Information Systems’ Client Solutions Division, Carl Pinto, emphasized Toshiba’s enterprise focus with its AR smartglasses. “From the start, our goal was to provide enterprise companies AR solutions that increased the productivity of their workforce and improved business outcomes,” he explained. “When paired with Atheer’s AiR Enterprise software the dynaEdge AR Smart Glasses deliver a complete solution for improved efficiency, quality and operating flexibility for field workers.”

Other features of Toshiba’s dynaEdge AR smartglasses include Intel Core Processors, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a paired dynaEdge DE-100 Mobile Mini PC, among others. The system is designed to run on the Windows 10 Pro operating system.
