“The smartphones offer the latest indication that in-display fingerprint scanning is an important new trend, with multiple smartphone makers having followed Vivo’s lead over the past year…”
Vivo has launched a new pair of smartphones in the China market, further spreading the in-display fingerprint scanner trend that it started with last year’s Vivo X20 Plus UD smartphone.
The new Vivo X27, and its sibling model the X27 Pro, both sport pop-up selfie cameras and triple-camera rear-facing imaging systems. The X27 features a 6.39″ Super AMOLED display, while the X27 Pro’s display comes in at 6.7″. And both devices run on FunTouch OS 9, an operating system based on Android 9.
As for the devices’ in-display fingerprint sensors, they’re sixth-generation, according to GizmoChina. And they’re provided by Goodix, which has been Vivo’s in-display fingerprint sensor supplier for multiple devices after the Vivo X20 Plus UD, which featured a Synaptics sensor.
The smartphones offer the latest indication that in-display fingerprint scanning is an important new trend, with multiple smartphone makers having followed Vivo’s lead over the past year, including Samsung with its recently-launched Galaxy S10 smartphones. Vivo’s X27 will hit the market in China on March 30th, while the X27 Pro will be available in April.
