WePay is now offering Apple Pay and Android Pay support.
The company offers an eponymous digital commerce platform, supporting the business of major names like Constant Contact, FreshBooks, and GoFundMe. Now, those services will be able to offer Apple Pay and Android Pay as payment options to their customers.
In a statement announcing the development, WePay CEO Bill Clerico explained that “[s]treamlining the mobile checkout experience is a huge opportunity as more and more people use their mobile devices for anything and everything, including their commerce.”
The support further extends the presence of Apple Pay and Android Pay on the web, with the platforms – and perhaps especially Apple Pay – having gradually sought to expand beyond their initial mobile commerce purview just as digital commerce rival PayPal has moved more into mPayments. Samsung Pay, meanwhile, is curiously absent from the WePay deal, though given the tendency for these platforms to gravitate to the same markets, it’s fair to expect Samsung Pay support to follow in the future.
