“Xiaomi has launched multiple smartphones this year featuring FPC sensors, including the Mi Mix, the Mi 6, and the Mi Max 2, the last of which also featured the FPC1035 sensor model.”
Fingerprint Cards‘ biometric sensor technology is being used in new devices from two different smartphone makers. The company has announced that the Xiaomi 5X and the Moto Z2 Force both feature an FPC1035 fingerprint sensor.
Both smartphone makers are longstanding FPC clients. Xiaomi has launched multiple smartphones this year featuring FPC sensors, including the Mi Mix, the Mi 6, and the Mi Max 2, the last of which also featured the FPC1035 sensor model. Lenovo-owned Moto, meanwhile, featured the FPC1035 in its recent Moto M and Moto Z2 Play smartphones.
FPC’s mobile biometrics business had suffered in the first half of this year due to competitive challenges and build-up of inventory among its clients, but the company’s CEO asserted that things were back on track in FPC’s Q2 update. Coming in the same week as the announcement of a new integration in a smartphone from LG, these latest Xiaomi and Moto integrations suggest that is indeed the case.
