“The ZiiLock can store up to 20 authorized fingerprints, and leverages AES 256 encryption for its Bluetooth functionality…”
ZiiLock has launched an Indiegogo campaign for its new foldable biometric bike lock, which allows bikers to secure their bikes with fingerprint recognition or a contactless security key linked to their smartphone. The lock will eventually retail for $179, although it is currently available at a discount through the campaign.
The ZiiLock can store up to 20 authorized fingerprints, and leverages AES 256 encryption for its Bluetooth functionality. Users can also create a temporary access code to allow other people to unlock the bike, or utilize a geo-tracking feature to tag the bike’s last location and receive an alert in the event of any suspicious activity.
The lock is waterproof and made with hardened steel bars strong enough to withstand more than 12 tons of sheer force. It is one of multiple biometric locks to hit the market in the past few months. Hampton Products has released a new BenjiLock to secure luggage, while Tapplock has been showcasing a more robust biometric padlock for the enterprise.
BIO-Key launched its own biometric bike locks at CES 2018, and has since made the line available in the US via Amazon.
